Description
A Welsh Guards Beret Cap Badge in a gold/brass finish showing the famous leek of this small regiment, part of the Guards Division; please note this is NOT made from stay bright but a brass-based metal.
The leek is of course the symbol of Wales and this has been the Welsh Guards emblem since their formation in 1915, which was to include the country of Wales in the Foot Guards. They have taken part in most major conflicts since the first World War; after an Army reorganisation in 2020, the regiment is currently located near Windsor.
Interestingly, as the Welsh Guards were the fifth (and last) Guards regiment to be created, they can be distinguished from the other Foot Guards by looking at their tunics when on parade – the Welsh have their buttons sewn on in groups of five. Their white/green/white tri-coloured bearskin plume is also easy to spot. In 1919, the Welsh Guards were awarded the Order of the Garter.
