This is by far Altberg’s most lightweight, all leather military boot and was introduced towards the back end of last century with the help from local serving soldiers from Catterick Garrison.

Designed to be a solid boot for training and to aid endurance of the young recruits the NCO’s gave some insightful input to this Microlite boots development. At Altberg it’s imperative that we listen to the feedback from soldiers to ensure the boots deliver every item worn, and as such this lightweight Wide Fit brown boot was designed to perform well in wet conditions and dry fast!!

It’s lightweight construction which shock absorbing micro cushion sole is perfect for tabbing, so not only suited to daily duties ensures its ideal for both military and police for urban conditions too

Traditionally Altberg make their boots to a narrow rand fitting, so the Wide version is for those who have a slightly wider fitting. The pinch areas when a shoe/boot does not as it should is along the crease line above the toes and at the widest part of your foot. We don’t recommend you choosing a Wide fitting boot if you’ve not typically worn one before

Another feature of this Wide Fit Brown Boot is the Cambrelle lining that is not waterproof but is far cooler in summer conditions. It’s to be remembered that a waterproof sock i.e. Sealskinz Merino Wool can be worn to keep the foot dry as it’s inevitable that water will enter the boot, but the huge advantage here is that when the boot does dry out it’s only damp and not wet

Size and Fitting Advice
Here at John Bulls we’d recommend you choosing a 1/2 size above your normal shoe size as this allows for a thicker sock to be used with the boot

PLEASE NOTE: Altberg started introducing their new Defender Hi-Traction Sole onto their boots in June 2022 with an aim to replace all Vibram soles by February 2023. Practically all our boots now have the new Defender sole and sadly we can no longer order them with the older Vibram versions - These Defender soles are a far better sole in our opinion and the valuable feedback we're getting back from our customers

I'm really happy with the Altberg Sneeker Microlite Boot. They are such great quality and really comfortable. I wore Altbergs when I was in the Army and I genuinely don't think I could buy boots from anywhere else.

Privates dream!

As a young Private it was my dream to own a set of Altbergs but at that time they weren't the best boots for the desert wars we were fighting. The range of boots have come a long way since then and the lightweight Altberg Sneeker is a great example of this development. My only complaint is that the laces are a bit long.

I probably will never need to buy another set but will probably get the jungle or cold weather boot as well non the less.

Not even water resistant!

The sides of the tongue of this boot are made of fabric and from research on the Alt-Berg website before buying, I could have sworn that it was supposed to be GoreTex.

That's not the case. This fabric is NOT waterproof and not even water resistant. I just rinsed them off for the first time and water immediately came through. It wasn't a case of submerging them for several seconds, water soaked through as soon as it touched it.

Forget these boots, spend a couple of quid more and go straight for the all leather ones.

What's the point of £180 boots that are no better than a jogging shore at keeping out water?!

well worth the money

I bought a pair of sneakers in 2018 from john bulls old shop in Catterick, I've used these boots for everything I did in my career all across the globe they never let me down once. i have also used these boots for my job in telecoms after leaving the forces in mid 2022 and again they where always up to the task.
I have unfortunately had to retire my pair recently due to the boots being too worn down now.
I did have a brief break in period but after that they where spot on.

the staff at the shop where always friendly and more than happy to help with any questions we had.
