The Xtreme version is built for hard use. Think constant wet and dry cycles. Long days in the field. Leather starting to feel stiff, dry, or on the edge of cracking. That’s when this comes in.
High oil content is the key difference. Much higher than standard Leder-Gris. It drives deep into the leather, rehydrating it and restoring flexibility where normal wax just sits on the surface.
What does that mean in real terms?
Stops leather hardening.
Reduces the risk of flex cracking.
Softens heavy, worn boots.
Extends the life of your footwear.
It’s also useful after extreme conditions—soaked boots, repeated drying, or harsh environments where standard treatments aren’t enough.
But this is not daily-use kit. It’s a one-off or occasional treatment. Too much and you’ll over-soften the leather. That’s why it’s used alongside standard Leder-Gris, not instead of it.

Instructions for Use
Brush in Leder-Gris Xtreme when the boots are ALMOST dry, use the brush to drive the wax-oil INTO the leather, ALWAYS treat with Leder-Gris before storage. Altberg recommend only Leder-Gris products for use on their boots. If leather shows signs of hardening, or after use in extreme wet conditions, use Leder-Gris Xtreme as a ‘one-off’ treatment
