Amazing boots

These boots are outstanding. After years of struggling to find a pair that fit properly, I’ve finally found the perfect ones. They’ve been through everything — hills, streets, homes, and commercial sites — and have stood up brilliantly to the demands of my job as a paramedic. They’re so good I even bought my son a pair for hill walking, and he’s just as impressed. The only drawback is the price, but if you can stretch to it, they’re absolutely worth every penny.

Another classic

I love altberg boots. These are comfortable out of the box. Took about 50 miles to break in. Good for jogging in, although not as comfortable as running shoes! The rocker in the sole helps with forward motion. I bought them to help heal my posterior tibialis tendonitis whilst maintaining my ultra training, which cleared up within 2 weeks of wearing these boots. The leather is fairly soft, I'd say they may not last a lifetime, but with altberg offering repairs, I think they're worth it.

'Sporty', Comfortable Tall Boot

(I'm writing this in addition to the review I've already written, which was about my experience of buying the boots , rather than the boots per se)
These boots are well made from soft leather, which in addition to the AForme last (which suits my feet very well), makes them very snug and comfortable, and about as 'sporty' as a tall army boot can feel.
So far, I've used them for 2 walks - a bit over 10 km near my house and 13 km up and down to High Cup Nick in the Yorkshire dales. They are the most 'comfortable out of the box' leather boots I've ever had, whilst being sturdy and supportive. Whilst not being fully waterproof, they've already been through a few streams and deep puddles without my socks getting wet.
The only criticism I'd make is that I would have preferred standard hiking boot lace hooks on the leg of the boot, as they're a bit slow to lace up.

Great service, fast delivery, fantastic boots.

The boots are great. Light, comfortable from day 1, and can wear them all day. Very happy and wish I'd got these boots years ago!

Excellent fit, even works in winter

After a long contemplation, finally pulled the trigger, and very happy.

First impressions: amazingly lightweight even at sz 12.5, very comfortable to walk and run in, and the A-forme last is spectacular, helps your toes splay out instead of putting pressure on them.

Impressions after a week in the field: You could and can go miles upon miles in these, including with a heavy combat load. Properly treated, the leather is waterproof, and even the tongue is fairly water resistant for your usual puddles, wet vegetation etc.

These will also work fine in dry snow and on icy ground as well, not at all as slippery as quite a few other makes of boots.

For slush & sleet & melting snow, the fabric tongue will let the wetness through, and you'll end up with wet cold feet even if rocking sealskinz or the like. On the other hand, they do dry quickly, but if your schedule looks like days on end in snow that's about to melt, consider another option. For all other conditions, these are really good.

Happy with the purchase, and my one complaint is about the lacing loops, which bend too easily. I had one bend outward and only noticed this in the middle of a week long field exercise. Sure, I might have had my laces really loose at that point, to make sure double or triple socks will fit, but it's an annoying thing, and sturdier metal should be used instead. That's costing these one star. Beyond that, highly recommended, and I hope to get years of field use out of these, on the civvie side, too.

Insoles

Terrible insoles, worse than the old G10 green cheese grater type.
Not too impressed about paying £190 for a pair of boots and then having to spend a further £30 on new insoles.
